Elijah Thomas
Hey there! I'm Elijah, a recently graduated graphic designer located in New York City. I specialize in communications design, with a focus on marketing and branding. Design truly resonates with me as it offers a means of capturing attention swiftly to convey messages effectively. In today's fast-paced world, the ability to create visually striking and succinct content holds great value. This is why I'm passionate about crafting distinctive, lively, and innovative visuals that resonate with their intended audiences.
I started out as a self-taught artist at the age of 15, focusing on designing banners, overlays, and YouTube thumbnails for myself and my friends. Being self-taught, I consistently felt the urge to improve my skills and techniques through YouTube videos and guides. As I grew older and more confident, I took the initiative to start freelance work, for both family and strangers.
During my second semester of college, I enrolled in my first set of design classes. These courses played a significant role in refining my grasp of design principles such as hierarchy, typography, alignment, and spacing. In 2021, I interned at The Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP), an experience that equipped me with valuable skills like time management, understanding a company's methodologies, and effective communication.
Even after I graduated, I still hold on to the curiosity that drove me at 15. I remain dedicated to continuous learning and personal growth. I am always eager to acquire new knowledge and enhance both myself and my designs.
